Art Competition International Year of Biodiversity 2010
Ballycroy National Park asked the children of County Mayo to help us celebrate the International Year of Biodiversity by taking part in the Nature in Mayo – A Biodiversity Bonanza Children’s Art Competition. The art competition aimed to promote biodiversity by asking children to take a closer look at nature and painting or drawing something that appeals to them such as a plant, animal or even their favourite habitat. They found this in familiar places such as in their gardens or schools yards but also in the many other interesting habitats that makes Mayo so unique such as miles of un-spoilt coastal waters and shore, beautiful lakes, wonderful woodlands, high nature value farmland, blanket bogs and of course Ireland’s newest National Park – Ballycroy National Park.
Prizes were awarded for best pictures in the following categories:
A.Infants Classes B. 1st & 2nd Class C. 3rd & 4th Class D. 5th & 6th Class
A prize was also awarded to the school of the 1st place prize winner in each category.

It was a difficult decision as the standard was very high in all categories.
